For Back to School and Work Care Count on Your Friendly Neighbourhood Chiropractor
Are you ready to move from the peak of summer back into autumn’s beauty and its comfort filled routines? Transition is upon us. New beginnings ahead are the promise of fall. The kids are back in school and well, we are all back to work. For me and my team, the arrival of September’s Labour Day is a reminder of how we feel about our work providing health to our patients is truly our Labour of Love!
How Chiropractic Care Can Support You this Fall

Dr. Michael Horowitz here: Your Friendly Neighborhood Chiropractor in Vancouver and owner of Vancouver Orthotic Clinics. Our offices treat a variety of conditions such as Flat Feet, Foot Pain, Ankle, Knee, Hip, Neck and Back Pain.
This month in recognizing Labour Day–we take the opportunity to enjoy the September long weekend and to rest from the hard work we’ve all put in to get where we are.
Throughout the year, our team enjoys meeting new people, being of service and helping patients improve their posture. This alone gets them out of any pain they are experiencing. Often it is from being out of alignment or lacking proper support and shock absorption. We truly love what we do. Helping patients solve problems, offering a holistic approach with an emphasis on treating the source of their symptoms, and doing it naturally without interventions of prescriptions or surgery if possible.
We are grateful to be able to do this, and to reap the rewards of joy and satisfaction in making a difference in our patients’ lives. After all, pain can really rob us of life’s joys and ease. It can affect our mood and take an emotional toll on our relationships.
All too often we see patients neglect their bodies. By the time they experience their pain, the damage has already been done! If we wait for our bodies to break down and allow weeks, months, even years of neglect…This can lead to a far more challenging approach to treatment.
Featured Topics this Month are Knee Pain and the Pinched Nerve
Your knee pain may have been caused by a traumatic injury but it may also seem like it came out of nowhere, without any cause at all. Remember though that poor foot biomechanics may be silently at work and that proper alignment starts from the ‘ground up’.
We’ve dedicated a separate post along with our video on Knee Pain here
for now we’d like you to consider these points for self-care this September:
- Have your feet examined to discover potential causes of knee pain on the way to a proper diagnosis.
- The knee is one of the weight bearing joints that are directly affected by each step you take. A foot exam and recommendation for custom orthotics may go a long way to avoid unnecessary wear and tear.
Knee Pain has so many potential sources from an acute sprain to a repetitive irritation, from osteoarthritis to a meniscal or ligament strain. We tend to believe poor shock-absorption through the feet is often the culprit of non-traumatic knee stiffness and discomfort.
The Pinched Nerve is a more common occurrence than most people might expect. When you feel neck or back pain, there is a good chance that one of your spinal nerves is being irritated by spinal fixation or misalignment. Common versions of the pinched nerve are symptoms such as headaches and sciatica but so are every day episodes of neck and back pain.
Both of these conditions can be painful and debilitating. Relief is at hand! At Vancouver Orthotic Clinics we believe that good posture starts from the Ground Up! For better balance, alignment and shock-absorption all of this prevent or improve pain, consider having your feet examined at one of our clinics. We offer diagnosis and treatment and will often recommend a pair of Custom Orthotic Inserts to fit into your favourite shoes.
All patients start off with a consultation that includes a postural, foot and spine exam. Ultimately this leads us to a Diagnosis & Treatment plan. We use the newest 3D Foot and Gait Scan Technology and can recommend a variety of treatment options.
This is OUR Labour of Love and we would be pleased to be of service to you and your families!
Let’s fireproof your body with early detection and prevention and we know that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. It’s certainly easier to prevent fires of pain and discomfort that might flare up as small aches and pains to becoming big ones.
