TREATING OVER-SUPINATION
Although supination and pronation are a natural parts to foot movement, too much of either motion can lead to an uneven gait and result in inefficiencies, such as pain, swelling, and misalignment. Proper footwear, using orthotic inserts, and engaging in regular stretching can all help improve balance, stability & shock-absorption.
FAQ About Over-Supinated (High Arches)
Do Supinators have high arches?

Can you have high arches and Overpronation?
People with flatter fallen feet tend to have highly flexible arches, which are more likely to flatten too much. This is known as overpronation. However, not everyone with flat feet overpronate, and those with high arches may also experience excessive inward ankle rolling due to instability in the muscles of the lower leg. Examination is essential for determining the best approach to providing support to the feet.
Can you correct foot supination?

Proper footwear, using orthotic inserts, and engaging in regular stretching can all help improve balance, stability & shock-absorption.
Why is High Arches (Over-Supination) a bad thing?
Our feet act as shock-absorbers. It’s essential that they help diffuse the load of each step that we take. Poor alignment of the feet and the high supinated arch tend to be extremely rigid and reduce our ability to disperse force and the result is often heel, foot, ankle, knee, hip or back pain.
How do I know if I have high arches?
If your footprint shows little or no contact along the outside edge and you see just your heel and the ball of your foot, you have a “high” arch. Your foot may not roll in much when you run, but it doesn’t absorb much shock. Always assess arch height in the weight bearing position. How many centimeters between the apex of your inside arch and the ground? More than 3cm? You are over-supinated. Under3cm? You are likely flat footed. Symptoms may ensure.
