Welcome to our Coquitlam & Tri-Cities Orthotics Clinic

Our Coquitlam clinic is located inside Morrison Chiropractic Inc. on Roderick Avenue, where orthotic assessments are provided by Dr. Scott Morrison.

Foot pain can have a way of getting in the way of everyday life — walking, working, exercising, playing sports or simply being on your feet for a long day. If you’re wondering whether your feet or the way you walk may be contributing, we’re happy to take a closer look.

Your visit is about understanding what’s going on, not simply assuming that you need orthotics. Depending on your individual needs, your assessment may include a 3D digital foot scan, gait analysis, biomechanical assessment and postural evaluation.

If custom orthotics are appropriate, we’ll explain why and discuss your options with you. And if they’re not appropriate, that’s useful information too.

What to Expect at Your Orthotic Assessment

Your $95 new patient orthotic assessment gives us time to learn what has been bothering you and take a closer look at how your feet are functioning. Depending on your individual needs,, your visit may include a foot and postural examination, 3D digital foot scan, gait analysis and biomechanical assessment. We’ll also talk about your symptoms, activities and the types of shoes you normally wear.

If custom orthotics are recommended, we’ll explain what we found, how orthotics may help, and answer your questions before you decide how you’d like to proceed.

Custom orthotics are $450 in addition to the assessment.

New Patients Are Welcome

If this is your first time looking into custom orthotics, don’t worry — you don’t need to know exactly what’s causing your discomfort before you come in. That’s part of what the assessment is for.

We see patients from Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody and surrounding Tri-Cities communities who are looking for help understanding their foot mechanics, recurring foot discomfort or whether custom orthotics may be appropriate for them.

Using Extended Health Insurance for Custom Orthotics

Many extended health benefit plans provide coverage for custom orthotics, although coverage amounts and requirements vary between insurers and individual plans.

Before ordering orthotics, we recommend checking your individual benefits for any requirements relating to assessment, prescription, documentation, replacement frequency and reimbursement limits.

Please note: Direct billing is not available for the examination at our Coquitlam location. Detailed receipts can be provided for you to submit to your extended health insurer.

Foot & Lower-Limb Concerns We Assess

Sometimes it’s obvious where your foot hurts. Other times, the problem shows up only after a long walk, a day at work, a run or several hours on your feet. Part of an orthotic assessment is looking beyond the sore spot and considering how your feet and lower limbs are functioning together.

People visit our Coquitlam and Tri-Cities clinic with a variety of concerns, including:

  • Plantar fasciitis and recurring heel pain
  • Flat feet and overpronation
  • Arch pain and foot fatigue
  • Bunions
  • Metatarsalgia and forefoot discomfort
  • Achilles tendon and ankle discomfort
  • Shin splints
  • Foot-related biomechanical concerns that may contribute to knee, hip or lower-back discomfort

Having one of these concerns doesn’t automatically mean you need custom orthotics. The goal of your assessment is to better understand what may be contributing to your symptoms and whether orthotics or another recommendation may be appropriate.

3D Foot Scanning, Gait Analysis & Your Assessment

Your feet aren’t static — how they move can be just as important as how they look when you’re standing still. That’s why an orthotic assessment may combine different ways of looking at your feet and lower limbs.

A 3D digital foot scan provides detailed information about the shape and contours of your feet, while gait analysis helps us look at how your feet and lower limbs function while you’re walking.

A biomechanical assessment can add another piece to the picture by looking at factors such as foot mechanics, alignment and joint function.

We look at these findings together with your symptoms, activities, footwear and clinical examination. Technology can give us useful information, but it’s only one part of understanding the person attached to the feet.
