Tips for foot pain relief and perfect posture and improvement
Of the top complaints seen at Vancouver Orthotics, foot pain and the discomfort and fatigue associated with it, as well as concerns about perfect posture rank high for patients seeking proper diagnosis and customized treatment. In our post in this month of February, we’ve got great tips on how to lavish some love on yourself as you take care of your biomechanics from the ground up!
The source of foot pain and what to do about it
Foot pain is most often due to repetitive strain on the muscles, ligaments, bones and tendons of the feet. After all, each day we walk for miles, jump, run, and we may even skip for joy or for fitness! Often times, because of faulty biomechanics, we pay for all of that movement with aches and pains.
The arches in our feet that act as “shock-absorbers” may be fallen or pronated arches. This will reduce the mechanical efficiency of each step that we take and may result in an accumulation of stress, strain, and tension. Enter: foot pain.
What to do about foot pain? Consider that while you try to achieve those 10,000 steps people are fixated on –moving constantly all day – it’s important to select and wear proper footwear. If you know someone or you yourself are experiencing foot pain, discomfort and fatigue: consider a visit to one of our offices. Get that proper diagnosis and an effective form of treatment personalized to your needs. Vancouver Orthotics uses the latest in 3D Foot Scan Technology to asses if you are a candidate for custom orthotics to relieve your pain and return the spring to your step.

Ground up care, alignment and support is the foundation to an energy giving good posture.
Perfect Posture is also a top concern for patients at Vancouver Orthotics
Patients are very interested in how to have what they call: “Perfect Posture” or a “Better Posture”. We all know the many benefits to our image, our breathing, our energy and comfort, so patients hope for help with what we call, “Postural Correction” and are eager to be guided in the best “Postural Exercises” we recommend.
What are the steps to perfect posture?
All patients at our clinic start off with a Chiropractic Postural and Spinal Evaluation. This begins with a careful evaluation as to what’s looking good and what needs improvement. Everyone holds their stress in their bodies differently. Unique recommendations are made on an individual basis but you will find this summary of the principle points helpful. Try it and see how you feel with our 5-Ways to Improve Posture plan.
5-Ways to Improve Posture from Vancouver Orthotics and Chiropractic
- Awareness – knowing good vs bad postural habits and positions is half the battle. How is your posture while sitting, standing, and sleeping? What type of asymmetrical stress are you placing on your spine through postural and activity? Be aware of it and change it whenever possible.
- Rest and Relaxation - it’s truly difficult to hold yourself upright when your mind and body are exhausted. How much sleep are you getting? Are you well rested? If not, expect that your body isn’t functioning to its full capacity and your posture will suffer!
- Muscular Strength, Tone, and Tension and Elasticity - the muscles that surround the spine are there to support the spine. Weak or overly tense or tight muscles do a poor job holding us in good posture. For this reason we encourage living a healthy active life that includes regular physical exercise, stretching and soft tissue techniques such as massage therapy, yoga and chiropractic.
- Spinal Alignment, Mobility and Chiropractic - the column of blocks that make up the spine (the vertebrae) need to have a particular alignment and movement pattern in order to function property and for you to enjoy best posture. Stress accumulates in and around the spine leading to stiffness. Eventually it leads to a pinched nerve and waves of pain and discomfort, not to mention less than ideal posture. Chiropractic treatment is aimed at improving posture by improving function, at each vertebral segment. This is an often the most neglected aspect to Perfect Posture.
- Foot Arch Alignment, Shock Absorption and Custom Orthotics - if your feet are flat (pronated) and your movement patterns and weight distribution are off, you can correct that situation. Consider having your feet taken care of with a pair of custom made orthotic inserts.
At Vancouver Orthotic Clinics our goal is to support our patients with optimum biomechanics from the ground up. Since our Feet are the Foundation to great Posture and Alignment; we offer Foot Exams using an Electronic Gait Scan and the newest 3D Foot Scan technology. You may be a candidate for better foot alignment, balance, stability and overall all shock-absorption. All of this; from head to toe; may also help improve your posture and alignment.
